Patricia “Patty” Giese is a vice president and director of grants and budget management for the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR). She has worked with IIR since 2011 and currently leads IIR’s grant administration and budgeting operations, ensuring effective management of all related processes.

Ms. Giese brings a wealth of knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of grant cycles, application processes, award and budget management, reporting requirements, and compliance regulations, ensuring the seamless execution of grant-funded initiatives with the highest standards of accountability. In addition to her critical role within the grants team, she has also overseen a wide array of administrative functions, including facilities management, procurement, inventory oversight, meeting planning, and conference cost reporting.

Prior to joining IIR, Ms. Giese provided strategic management and operational support to various professional organizations, allowing her to cultivate extensive expertise in administrative operations, finance and accounting, business process engineering, systems design and analysis, and audit and quality control services.

Ms. Giese holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Mary Washington University and is a member of the National Grants Management Association.
